This series will focus on teaching a range of more advanced gundog skills. This workshop will focus on marks, memories and blinds.
Time: 10am to 12pm Location in July/August: Oakhurst Farm, Loxwood
Location from Sept: Haslemere, Surrey
These monthly workshops will focus on improving your handler skills and will look to progress your gundog's ability, confidence and proofing of the skills taught at the foundation level - whether you intend to work them on a shoot, or just want a happy and fulfilled pet gundog.
These sessions are suitable for more experienced retriever (e.g. labradors) and hunting retriever (e.g. spaniels) breeds, who have passed their Gundog Club Grade 2, or are working reliably at that level.
The level is progressive, and is designed for anyone working towards The Gundog Club Grade 3 and above, plus Novice Dog/Novice Handler Working Tests.
Content will be topic-based each month including marks, memories and blinds, self control and distractions, hunting and retrieving, stops and directions and troubleshooting.
Each session will cover one main topic as well as the principles of clicker training and building valuable rewards in play that can be used to add strength to other behaviours.
It is up to you whether you attend the whole course or just book on individual sessions.
You do not need to have attended any of the previous sessions to book on, although we do recommend that if you have never trained with Teach Your Gundog before you book an initial 121 session so we can assess exactly where you are at with your training and which group class will be most suitable for your individual dog.
